My name is Mateo, Iām a third year student at CU Boulder pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. I have a passion for learning, an appreciation for efficiency, and pride myself on excellent communication.
In my free time I enjoy playing music, mountain biking, and cooking. I graduated from Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in San Francisco where I was trained in the tuba and trombone. I race downhill mountain bikes for the CU cycling team and am a certified bicycle mechanic.
I have come to appreciate engineering as an amazing achievement of humanity; with nothing more than theoretical tools and skills acquired in the classroom, we can make very real, tangible, important things with a big impact. Cars, airplanes, computers, refrigerators, clocks, etc. ā¦ these are all things that had an enormous impact on both the short and long term experience of humanity, and they all started with an idea on pen and paper. Its very exciting to think that I have the tools necessary to make an impact like that.
